Middleburn RO1 Square Taper Cranks are designed for riders seeking a combination of strength, lightweight performance, and precision. Compatible with square taper bike cranks and JIS bottom bracket axles, the RO1 bike cranks provide a secure and reliable fit for road or MTB applications.
The RO1-SQ-175 crankset weighs approximately 437g including the supplied lock ring, making it both strong and light. Available in lengths of 165mm, 170mm, 172.5mm, and 175mm, and in black or silver finishes, these square taper crank arms are versatile enough to suit a wide range of bikes and riding styles.
When used with a 113mm axle bottom bracket, the RO1 cranks maintain the standard 44mm chainline for road bikes. Using a 107mm square taper bottom bracket, the Q-factor is approximately 148mm, optimising pedal clearance and rider comfort.
First developed in 1991, Middleburn cranks have undergone continuous refinement. The RO1 design benefits from advanced 3D stress modelling to deliver one of the stiffest, yet lightest, square taper cranksets on the market. Crafted from hot forged 7075 T6 aluminium, each crank is fully CNC machined, hand-polished, anodised, and finished with the Middleburn logo. This meticulous process ensures every Middleburn RO1 Crankset maintains consistent quality, no matter which crank arm length or colour you choose. Self-extracting bolts are not included but can be purchased separately.
The RO1 cranks are compatible with dedicated RO1 spiders for road bikes, SP-RO1-SQ-94-X2 and SP-RO1-SQ-110-X2. They can also be used with other SP-SQ spiders or UNO chainrings to achieve a 50mm chainline suitable for MTB setups.
